Eric Chandler

The Program

As the First Officer, it’s my job to throw the switch. This causes the chemicals to flow from their special vat into the fuel tanks where it mixes with the gas. The gas flows into the engines where it burns in the combustion chamber. The chemicals flow out with the exhaust and trickle down on the people. You can see the white trails in the sky behind my airplane. The chemicals induce obesity, selfishness and whining. Results are much better than expected.

Eric Chandler wrote two books this year: Outside Duluth and Down In It. He enjoys cross country ski racing and marathon running. He lives with his wife and two children in Duluth, Minnesota. Find links to his published fiction, nonfiction, and poetry at his blog: Shmotown.
